If there is any metal scene in Bulgaria at all then Metalwings has to belong to those very few unique bands that try to reach out to people with their music. I really do not remember any Bulgarian band I could have known from the past and do not ask me how it`s even possible because I do not know the answer.

If Metalwings is the only band I am destined to know from there, then let it be. They deserve all your ears and attention for this 10+2 songs effort.

For All Beyond is really good produced symphonic and melodic metal album. You can hear viola, keyboards, Irish flute that help them to create a mysteries of music, surrounded by dark romanticism and gothic atmospherics. They use the keys a lot in songs and almost as good as Nightwish, Cradle Of Filth on some of their releases… They are female fronted and I honestly can send my appreciations to all vocals of Stela who has done great job with her-all clean vocal parts that sound  sweet but mature , like a singing of Elfs in tales. The heavy metal guitars and drumming are perfectly tuned to sharp the tone of music and give it metal sound but they do not go for anything that could disturb the beauty of symphonic and orchestrated elements. It`s rare that metal and bombastic music can go in such great symbiosis as it is in this album. Hard to think about it otherwise, especially when you hear such excellent composed songs. The music has been expressed really naturally here, it`s refreshing your mind and makes you think about things from your dreams or beyond our world.

It`s super performed album in every aspect. The music in most of the songs is like a secret access to many moods that cheer up my spirit and brighten my world.

Un album come For All Beyond ci presenta una band dalle potenzialità enormi, nel campo del metal sinfonico una delle sorprese di questa prima metà dell’anno.

Il gruppo proveniente da Sofia, capitale della Bulgaria, paese non proprio al centro del mappamondo metallico e capitanato dalla cantante, tastierista e songwriter Stela Atanasova, dopo il mini cd Fallen Angel in the Hell, uscito nel 2016, trova la chiave per aprire lo scrigno dove il custode delle sinfonie tiene celato il segreto per suonare il genere e crea questa opera fuori dal tempo.
Un’ora di splendida musica symphonic metal tra atmosfere folk, sfumature gotiche e potenza power metal: il debutto sulla lunga distanza dei Metalwings procurerà non pochi brividi sulla pelle dei fans di queste sonorità, che vengono  nobilitate da un album che profuma di colline e foreste dell’est, di villaggi d’argilla sorti sulle rive di ruscelli incantati o castelli dimenticati dal tempo.
In questo contesto la band bulgara alterna le varie atmosfere con grande sagacia e For All Beyond ne trova giovamento acquistando appeal ad ogni passaggio.
L’attenzione è tutta per la cantante, davvero brava nel saper dosare toni operistici ed altri più personali, sempre sottolineati da una raffinata ed elegante interpretazione, mentre gli strumenti prettamente metal creano cavalcate power e passaggi folk, sinfonie gotiche e tempeste heavy.
Lo strumentale End Of The War ci introduce all’ascolto dell’album, lungo brano che crea la giusta atmosfera lasciata esplodere con Secret Town, comandata da chitarre elettriche e viola.
Un brano power sinfonico lineare, perfetto per un singolo, mentre già dalla notevole Immortal Metal Wings la musica disegna quadri di un tempo passato che non smetteranno di colorarsi fino alla fine dell’album.
When We Pray, la title track, le bombastiche Realm Of Dreams ed il singolo Fallen Angel In The Hell (brano che dava il titolo al precedente ep) ci accompagnano alla scoperta del mondo antico dei Metalwings, per un’ora l’unico paesaggio che risplende davanti ai nostri occhi.

Metalwings war und ist die Vision von Stela Atanasova, mit deren Umsetzung, sie sich den lange gehegten Wunsch erfüllt hat, eine Symphonic-Metal-Band zu gründen, bei der sie all ihre musikalischen Vorlieben und Stärken, zum Ausdruck bringen kann. 2010 hat die hochbegabte, klassisch ausgebildete Sängerin und Komponistin, ihr „Baby“ Metawings aus der Taufe gehoben und nun das Debüt-Album „For All Beyond“ veröffentlicht. Der Weg bis dahin, war von einigen Personalwechseln geprägt aber Stela und ihre jeweiligen Mitstreiter, konnten sowohl mit der, schon vor einigen Jahren veröffentlichten Single „Crying Of The Sun“, als auch mit der, vor ziemlich genau 2 Jahren erschienenen EP „Fallen Angel In The Hell“, nachhaltig auf sich aufmerksam machen. Metalwings sind, v.a. in ihrer Heimat aber auch in weiten Teilen des osteuropäischen Raums, schon gut rumgekommen und haben in all den Jahren, auf etlichen Festivals ihre Visitenkarte, erfolgreich abgeben können. Mit ihrem Meisterwerk „For All Beyond“, wird der Bekanntheitsgrad der aufstrebenden Band aus Sofia, sicher noch deutlich steigen und Konzert- und Tour-Anfragen aus Resteuropa und vielleicht der ganzen Welt, werden bestimmt (hoffentlich) auch nicht lange auf sich warten lassen.

Klangtechnisch heben sich die Bulgaren schon deutlich von der Masse ab. Zum einen ist es, auch mit Hilfe der tollen Studio-Arbeit von Max Morton, der die Eigenproduktion der Band gemixt und gemastert hat, gelungen, einen sehr speziellen, sehr eigenen Sound zu kreieren, zum anderen sind die Songs sehr abwechslungsreich in ihrem Ausdruck, u.a. durch ein paar interessante Elemente, wie eben das starke Violine-Spiel von Stela aber auch keltisch/folkige Stilmittel (u.a. Flöte), runden das Klangbild ab. Es ist Metalwings möglich gewesen, ein Orchester aus Sofia mit in die Aufnahmen einzubinden, was freilich dem klassischen Part der Songs, eine ganze Ecke mehr Druck und Volumen verleiht.

The 2016 release of debut EP, Fallen Angel In The Hell, suggested a promise and potential within the sound of Bulgarian symphonic metallers Metalwings which warranted future attention. The release was an imaginative and well-crafted proposition with the magnetic vocal prowess of founder Stela Atanasova at its core. Now the band has just released its first album in the dramatic roar of For All Beyond, a release which has not only realised much of that early intimation but sparked a new wave of enticing possibilities.

For All Beyond immediately entices and swiftly enslaves attention with opener End of the War. Keys gently and provocatively rise up around ears as the vocal lures of Atanasova call like a siren. Soon the rapacious enticement of rhythms and the sonic tempting of guitars surge through the body, the track brewing an increasingly rousing incitement impossible not to be swept up in. As fiercely robust as it is there is an equally rich haunting quality which ebbs and flows across the track before bringing the cries of the victims and outcasts within its tempest.

Calm follows with the album’s title track, keys and voice sharing melancholic grace which is quickly wrapped in the synth woven caresses of Kitanov. It is a gentle peace which has a volatile air though, that ignited by the expressive guitars of Kostadinov and Jordanov and their suggestive tempestuousness. The ever resourceful rapier like swings of drummer Nikola Ivanov align with the predacious growl of Mavrov’s bass, their rapacious intent lingering even as subsequent moments of mellowness bring the evocative grace of Atanasova’s strings.

Realm of Dreams has the body and imagination bouncing once again, the melodic tease of keys dancing on the darker hues of aligning sounds. Across its masterfully magnetic length, the song fuses the contrasts of beauty and grace with aggression and raw trespass, creating a rotating realm of temptation and adventure. The best track on the album, it encapsulates all the invention, craft, and imagination of Metalwings whilst hinting of the even bolder adventures they might pursue ahead.

The release concludes firstly with Tujni Serza, a delicate but rich ballad sung in the band’ mother tongue and lastly an orchestral version of For All Beyond which gives full rein to the track’s already established emotion and grandeur with its instrumental winds.

It is fair to say, as many others, we were intrigued by the Metalwings debut EP if not completely convinced.  For All Beyond though simply grabbed our appetite and imagination; tightening its hold song by song, creative layer by layer. Given a chance it just could be seizing yours too.

Mit Musik ist es wie mit Schokolade. Diese schmeckt oder schmeckt nicht, der eine mag es lieber herb, der andere dann süß, und wiederum andere haben sie lieber mit Nüssen oder anderen Dopings. Und das ist gut so. Und so gibt es auch in der wilden Musiklandschaft viele verschiedene Schoko-Stückchen, die eben nicht für jeden das richtige sind. Und was bei der Schokolade die Milka, das ist in der Musik der Mainstream, und dazu gehören Metalwings definitiv nicht. Man mag sie oder man mag sie eben nicht. Ich mag sie!

Vor mittlerweile 8 Jahren hat sich die Band schon formiert, doch erst vor kurzem gab es das erste Album der Bulgaren. Dies ist weitgehendst klassisch gehalten mit zugegeben fantastischen Metal-Takten. Dennoch werden nun wieder einige Aufschreie ertönen, oh nein, schon wieder eine Classic Symphonic Metal-Band? Euch sei gesagt, hört unbedingt mal rein, denn das Album ist ganz große Klasse. Und Metalwings die „Lind“ unter der Schokoladen.

Mit dem Opener „End Of The War” haben die Bulgaren schon einmal ein feines Level gesetzt, das es zu toppen gilt, denn der Eröffnungssong, des Album grenzt schon fast an einer Hymne, die unglaublich ruhig ist, und so tief unter die Haut geht. „When We Pray“ ist eine-Ballade ganz im Piano-Stil und der einzige Song in der Landessprache der Band ist einfach unglaublich schön.

Trotz der Leichtigkeit in den Stücken schaffen es Metalwings, in jedem Stück einen fantastischen Spannungsbogen zu ziehen, und das schaffen beileibe nicht viele Bands. Sängerin Stela Atanasova glänzt mit einen unglaublichen Stimmgewalt, die sie gekonnt einsetzt, und mit den jeweiligen Emotionen spielt.

Mit „Immortal Metal Wings“ können die Bulgaren noch einmal richtig punkten, und servieren mit diesem Song noch einmal einen richtigen Kracher, der in den Gehirnwindungen nachhaltig hängen bleibt, und man kann sagen, das die Band den Level von Anfang an nicht nur halten, sondern auch steigern.

“For All Beyond” besitzt durchaus Dauerschleifen-Charakter, und ist eine Scheibe, auf die man nicht nur live abfeiern kann, sondern die man auch gut zu Hause beim Kuscheln laufen lassen kann. Musik für Herz und Seele!

Ein Album nicht nur für Fans des Genres, sondern für alle, die es gerne etwas sanfter mögen.
